Hardness Testing

GE Inspection Technologies offers a complete range of portable hardness testers for quick and convenient on-site hardness testing. Our harndess testing equipment range comprises of portable instruments and a large number of probes or impact devices – opening up extensive application ranges – for every testing situation. In addition, our hardness equipment offers a quick and economical supplement to stationary hardness testing in the modern production process.

There are three physical methods of hardness testing recognized in the field: the static UCI (Ultrasonic Contact Impedance) method, the dynamic rebound hardness testing method, and the optical TIV (Through-Indenter-Viewing) method. The decision to utilize a specific method depends on the test problem.

DynaPOCKET

Pocket-sized rebound portable hardness tester according to ASTM A956 - small dimensions, low weight, no cables.

DynaMIC

DynaMIC offers quick and easy on-site hardness testing of large coarse grained components, forgings and cast materials of all types.

MIC 10

The UCI method (ASTM A1038) enables easy hardness measurement of heat treated materials: position the probe, apply the load and read off the value.

MIC 20

The MIC20 combines the UCI and the Rebound method and covers their complete application range from thin copper coatings to large forgings.

TIV

The TIV method makes it possible to “see through” the diamond indenter by means of special optics. The hardness indentation is transferred and evaluated directly, automatically, and quickly.

Hardness Testing Software

UltraHARD

Is a full featured easy-to-use WindowsTM database program that simplifies the transfer, storage, analysis and documentation of data from our portable hardness testers. With UltraHARD you can easily create hardness test reports by printing or exporting data files into a custom MS Excel template Unique to this program is the ability to analyze the data graphically and statistically.

UltraDAT

UltraDAT is a hardness data management program that supports the TIV and MIC 20 instrument. It simplifies downloading data to a
PC using the instrument's Ethernet port. Connecting to the Ethernet port helps to speed the transfer of large data files that contain
stored TIV images of indentations.
